Recap

What a JOY it was to be in Colorado Springs for another week! For context, here’s a recap of what God was doing last week! As soon as Sunday came, it was literally 80° and sunny! It was a complete flip from last week which gave us such expectancy of what God was going to do!

On Sunday, we had the opportunity to serve the homeless at The Sanctuary Church and then attend the service! It was a beautiful reminder that God opens his arms to everyone. The picture below is a card the Pastor read at the beginning of service to set the tone of God’s love for every type of person in the room.

Throughout the week, we had several opportunities for evangelism, prayer sets, a Jesus Rally, as well as, building relationships with local believers through fellowship.

On Tuesday, we hiked up the Manitou Incline and kept our hearts open for encouragement and evangelism opportunities on the way up. It was one of the hardest climbs I’ve done, but also such a joy to minister to people on the way.

Throughout the week, I had the opportunity to speak to many people who had background in the church, but who had been hurt by the church or by people who misrepresented Jesus and so walked away from God. In full honesty, it made me righteously angry that so many people claim Christ, but do not live their lives like Him. Let us all evaluate our lives and if we are claiming Christ is our Savior, may we allow ourselves to be transformed by Him. It’s only by the blood shed on the cross that we can walk in freedom and truth. There is not grace for the gray area, Jesus is either Lord of our lives or something or someone else is.

Here is a testimony from Hector from the week:

As some of my teammates and I were getting coffee, we saw a guy walk past the shop with a white tank top on (we had received a vision earlier of a guy with a white tank top). I started to chase him down the road. Once I got to him, I felt the Lord prompting me to ask how he was doing. I asked him and he sat down. He started sharing how he had just gotten in an argument with his mom who had left him for 20 years, how he was now homeless, how he had just gotten out of jail four months ago, how he was on parole, and how he felt like all odds were against him. I got to share a little bit about my testimony with him and the Gospel. Then I asked him if he wanted to step into freedom, and he said yes, so we prayed and he received the Lord and after the prayer he was very surprised and smiling. He mentioned out loud, “I feel like a weight fell off my shoulders and I feel lighter.” I explained to him how that was God entering into his heart. After this, he started to open up to me about how he ended up in jail, and how he had all these labels, and God prompted me to ask him if he wanted to renounce those labels and accept the identity that God had for him. He said yes, so he walked through renouncing to the lies of the enemy and walking in his new identity in Jesus Christ. He then asked for my number and I partnered him with a church in the area. He then left feeling, lighter, free and with a new identity! Praise God!
